Accra, Nov. 29,- An Accra Circuit
Court has ordered for a psychiatric medical assessment on a 19 year school
dropout accused of having anal sex with a nine year old boy at Sahara, near
Dansoman in Accra.
Solomon Brown, who is facing a
charge of defilement, has pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs.
Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku gave the order after interrogating the accused person.
According to the court Brown seem
not to be normal and his mother also told to the court that she suspects the
accused was unstable in the mind.
Brown’s mother however told the
court that she has not sent the victim to any psychiatric hospital yet.
The court however remanded Brown
into Police custody to reappear on December 13 while the mental assessment is
ascertained.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi
Atimbire said victim’s father was the complainant whiles Brown lives at Sukura.
According to the Prosecution on
November 2, this year at about 3:00pm, the victim was playing with his friends
at a nearby Park when the accused called him and took him to an uncompleted
building at Sahara, near Dansoman and had anal sex with him.
Chief Inspector Atimbire said
after the act, the victim went home and informed his parents about the act.
Prosecution said the accused was
arrested and brought to the Dansoman Police station where a report was made.
According to the prosecutor, a
medical form was issued to the complainant to send the victim to hospital.
