NCCE launches research report tomorrow

Accra, Nov. 28, – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), would launch a research report on “Public Perception on the State of Corruption, Public Accountability and Environmental Governance in Ghana” on November 29.

   

An official statement issued and signed by the Director, Communications and Corporate Affairs, Mrs Joyce Afutu and copied the GNA, said the findings would inform the content of the Commission’s civic and public engagements across the country,

   

The statement said the findings would further update policy makers about the perceptions of Ghanaians on corruption, accountability, rule of law and environmental governance for informed policy interventions.

   

It said the research was undertaken as part of the Accountability, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme (ARAP), funded by the European Union (EU).

   

ARAP is an EU Ghana project that focuses on supporting the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP) of Ghana, approved by Parliament in 2014.

   

The main objective of ARAP is to contribute to current reform processes in the area of rule of law, accountability, anti-corruption and environmental governance.

   

It also seeks to support key institutions to increase the ability of citizens, civil society organisations and the media to hold government and duty bearers accountable.

   

The statement said the NCCE’s engagements would aim at increasing the awareness of corruptible acts and re-orient the citizenry to eschew corruption, increase public accountability and adopt sustainable environmental practices.

     

“In undertaking this research, the Commission collaborated with the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), which is the Coordinating Unit for ARAP.

    

“Subsequent to the launch, a series of dialogues would be organised by the Commission to discuss key findings of the Research,” it added.
